Coastal INSPIRATION Art by Artist PAT TOBIN
ART STUDIO IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Landscapes and Wild Coastlines
Patrick Tobin, a Laguna Beach native and pioneering big-wave surfing legend, began his artistic journey at a young age, creating and selling his own “surfer magazine” by 12. Despite earning an art scholarship to San Diego State University, Tobin chose the waves and easel over the classroom, and spent the next 30 years exploring point breaks in Mexico and Laguna Beach.
He wrote two limited edition books, "Aqui No Mas" and "Tehuantepec or Bust,” chronicling his quest for perfect surfing spots and featuring illustrations of his handmade wood-block prints. His life, dedicated to art and surfing, ended way too soon in 2006, leaving an indelible mark on both communities.
